The fence in Markarth is located nearby, but moves around and sometimes requires a transition to reach. Vlindrel Hall has the disadvantage of having fewer armor storage mannequins than the other "higher-end" homes, having only one. Breezehome, in Whiterun, is inexpensive and easily acquired early in the game, but it is the only home that lacks an enchanting table. It and Vlindrel Hall are the only homes that provide adequate storage in the alchemy room.

There are many unique amenities inside the Dawnstar Sanctuary, and you'll appreciate the subtle touches that make the interior appear even eviler. You can buy Honeyside from the city of Riften for 8,000 gold, and after fully furnishing it, you will have spent 12,300 gold for the house in total. This home is one of the best in Skyrim for a Dragonborn who wants a house that is easy on the eyes.

With the Hearthfire add-on, it is possible to construct and furnish your very own house. Three unique plots of land are available to build a house on throughout Skyrim, and the rooms of each house may be customized, with the houses potentially becoming larger than any of the city houses. Unique to the Hearthfire homes is that personal stewards may be recruited to serve each property, acquiring additional staff and furnishing the homes. The purchase of land for the Hearthfire houses does not add to the "Houses Owned" number in the game statistics. One drawback is that your spouse can't reside here, but everyone needs privacy sometimes. To get most homes in the game players must buy it from a Steward or complete a questline.

Bloodchill Cavern is a vampiric home built into the side of a tall mountain face that serves as the perfect place for creatures of the night to establish a base of operations. Bloodchill Cavern features coffins instead of beds, lots of Gothic and twisted architecture, and also comes with lots of living space to raise a family (it's a bit different than raising the undead). Once the quest is complete, talk to the Jarl in Dragonsreach, who will let you buy the Whiterun house from Proventus Avenicci for 5000 Gold. This means you cannot enchant items without walking all the way to Dragonsreach. Without the Mannequin, you can't display your favorite pieces of armor.
Not only is it next to a vast swamp teeming with enemies, Hjaalmarch as a whole is a fairly isolated region and there are simply better locations for a home. Proudspire Manor can be found in the capital of Skyrim, Solitude. Found on the opposite side of the game map from its fellow manor in Windhelm, Proudspire starts in a decrepit, run-down state. It is additionally the most expensive player home in the game, requiring 25,000 gold to get up and running.
